Canon AL-1

Just like literally every other AL-1 this on had a battery door that was taped shut because the latch had broken. I found a replacement battery door online. Unfortunately it wasn’t original and it was poorly made. Specifically the metal contact plate that serves the dual purpose of providing battery continuity and retaining the latching mechanism kept coming off because the plastic posts that held it down were no peened over. I got a screwdriver, heated it up and then press the plastic posts down so that they would hold the plate, and thus the mechanism, in place. Then, with a screwdriver I took apart the camera and replaced the door. And with just a bit of glue to put the the grip back into place, the AL-1 is just like new.
