Used examples of this lens currently only sell for around $20-$60, indicating that its not a very popular lens. Based on my research most complaints about these lenses are about focus quality, which is said to be poor at aperture sizes 4 and 5.6, however I don’t really find this to be the case on my example. This lens is by far one of my favorites. In Zoom mode it offers a range of 80-200mm. Twisting the “MACRO” ring at the base of the lens extends the body and switches the markings to macro ratios ranging from 1:5 down to 1:16 so its not really true macro. I enjoy this lens for its novelty and versatility. I find it rather nice to be able to pivot from zoom to macro-like shots without switching my lens. I personally haven’t had the same quality complaints with my lens that I have seen many people commenting on in forum posts. Yes it is a little soft at f4, but really not terribly and you can still get quite sharp images with the right lighting and taking your time to focus.
Finding more info on this lens has been difficult, so any new resources welcome!
